# Notability vs Element Note

Notability and Element Note both sit at 4.8 stars, but that hides the real split: 70% of Element Note's written reviews are positive against 36% of Notability's. Notability's advantage is ratings volume (459K vs 2.6K) and chart position (#101 vs unranked). On price, rating, update cadence and ads there is nothing between them.

Both are free to download. Notability sells 9 in-app purchases, starting at $5.99 per month and Element Note sells 3 in-app purchases, starting at $3.49 per year. Whichever you choose, the download price is not the number that matters.

On the App Store both sit at effectively the same score — 4.8 for Notability against 4.6 for Element Note. That said, the two scores are not equally well evidenced: Notability has 459K ratings behind it against 2.6K, so its average is the more settled of the two. Written reviews are what separate them: 36% of Notability's written reviews are positive against 70% of Element Note's.

Notability ships an update weekly, Element Note fortnightly. Both last shipped on November 3, 2026.
