# Keynote vs Google Docs

The clearest difference is in-app purchases: Keynote at none against Google Docs's 1. Keynote also leads on device support (5 vs 2). Google Docs's advantage is update cadence (weekly vs every 3 months) and rating (4.8 vs 4.4). On price and ads there is nothing between them.

Both are free to download. Google Docs sells 1 in-app purchase, starting at $199.99 per year. Keynote asks for nothing beyond the download.

Google Docs holds the better App Store score, 4.8 against 4.4. That said, the two scores are not equally well evidenced: Google Docs has 3.3M ratings behind it against 83K, so its average is the more settled of the two. Written reviews point the same way: 62% of Keynote's written reviews are positive against 70% of Google Docs's.

Keynote ships an update every 3 months, Google Docs weekly. Both last shipped on October 14, 2026.
