# KakaoTalk vs Chomog

The clearest difference is rating: KakaoTalk at 4.4 against Chomog's 3.5. KakaoTalk also leads on ratings volume (49K vs 2) and chart position (#120 vs unranked). Chomog's advantage is ads (none vs shown) and iOS requirement (13.0 vs 17.0). On price, update cadence, in-app purchases and monetization model there is nothing between them.

Both are free to download. KakaoTalk sells 13 in-app purchases, starting at $1.99 per month and Chomog sells 4 one-off in-app purchases. Whichever you choose, the download price is not the number that matters.

KakaoTalk holds the better App Store score, 4.4 against 3.5. That said, the two scores are not equally well evidenced: KakaoTalk has 49K ratings behind it against 2, so its average is the more settled of the two.

KakaoTalk ships an update weekly, Chomog every 2 weeks. The most recent releases landed on November 1, 2026 and October 29, 2026 respectively.
