# forScore vs Sheet Music Scanner

The clearest difference is price: Sheet Music Scanner at Free against forScore's $24.99. Sheet Music Scanner also leads on review sentiment (61% vs 50%) and iOS requirement (15.0 vs 18.0). forScore's advantage is rating (4.8 vs 4.5) and update cadence (every 9 days vs every 3 weeks). On ads, in-app purchases and device support there is nothing between them.

Sheet Music Scanner is free to download; forScore costs $24.99 up front. forScore sells 10 in-app purchases, starting at $14.99 per year and Sheet Music Scanner sells 13 in-app purchases, starting at $4.99 per month. Whichever you choose, the download price is not the number that matters.

forScore holds the better App Store score, 4.8 against 4.5. That said, the two scores are not equally well evidenced: forScore has 43K ratings behind it against 6.5K, so its average is the more settled of the two. Written reviews complicate that: 50% of forScore's written reviews are positive against 61% of Sheet Music Scanner's, so the app with the better star average is not the one people write more warmly about.

forScore ships an update every 9 days, Sheet Music Scanner every 3 weeks. Both last shipped on October 26, 2026.
