# KickMap NYC+ vs NY Subway

The clearest difference is price: NY Subway at Free against KickMap NYC+'s $3.99. NY Subway also leads on update cadence (every 2 days vs every 2 months) and review sentiment (100% vs 83%). KickMap NYC+'s advantage is rating (4.8 vs 4.2) and ratings volume (128 vs 12). On ads, in-app purchases, device support and iOS requirement there is nothing between them.

NY Subway is free to download; KickMap NYC+ costs $3.99 up front. Neither carries in-app purchases, so what you see is what you pay.

KickMap NYC+ holds the better App Store score, 4.8 against 4.2. That said, the two scores are not equally well evidenced: KickMap NYC+ has 128 ratings behind it against 12, so its average is the more settled of the two. Written reviews complicate that: 83% of KickMap NYC+'s written reviews are positive against 100% of NY Subway's, so the app with the better star average is not the one people write more warmly about.

KickMap NYC+ ships an update every 2 months, NY Subway every 2 days. Both last shipped on October 24, 2026.
