# PDF Reader Pro Edition® vs PDFMagic

The clearest difference is rating: PDF Reader Pro Edition® at 4.4 against PDFMagic's 3.8. PDF Reader Pro Edition® also leads on ads (none vs shown) and ratings volume (1.7K vs 110). PDFMagic's advantage is review sentiment (72% vs 54%) and monetization model (free with in-app purchases vs paid). On price, update cadence, in-app purchases and device support there is nothing between them.

Both are free to download. PDF Reader Pro Edition® sells 3 in-app purchases, starting at $3.99 per month and PDFMagic sells 4 in-app purchases, starting at $2.99 per 7 days. Whichever you choose, the download price is not the number that matters.

PDF Reader Pro Edition® holds the better App Store score, 4.4 against 3.8. That said, the two scores are not equally well evidenced: PDF Reader Pro Edition® has 1.7K ratings behind it against 110, so its average is the more settled of the two. Written reviews complicate that: 54% of PDF Reader Pro Edition®'s written reviews are positive against 72% of PDFMagic's, so the app with the better star average is not the one people write more warmly about.

PDF Reader Pro Edition® ships an update every 4 months, PDFMagic every 3 months. The most recent releases landed on October 22, 2026 and October 23, 2026 respectively.
