# FileBrowser vs Tippy

The clearest difference is price: Tippy at Free against FileBrowser's $7.99. Tippy also leads on rating (5.0 vs 4.7) and update cadence (every 9 days vs every 5 weeks). FileBrowser's advantage is ratings volume (5.7K vs 2) and device support. On in-app purchases there is nothing between them.

Tippy is free to download; FileBrowser costs $7.99 up front. Neither carries in-app purchases, so what you see is what you pay.

Tippy holds the better App Store score, 5.0 against 4.7. That said, the two scores are not equally well evidenced: FileBrowser has 5.7K ratings behind it against 2, so its average is the more settled of the two.

FileBrowser ships an update every 5 weeks, Tippy every 9 days. The most recent releases landed on October 22, 2026 and October 13, 2026 respectively.
