# DarkFlow vs Rural Roads

The clearest difference is rating: Rural Roads at 5.0 against DarkFlow's 2.6. Rural Roads also leads on update cadence (every 3 weeks vs every 2 months) and monetization model (free with in-app purchases vs paid). DarkFlow's advantage is review sentiment (42% vs 0%) and ads (none vs shown). On price, in-app purchases and device support there is nothing between them.

Both are free to download. Neither carries in-app purchases, so what you see is what you pay.

Rural Roads holds the better App Store score, 5.0 against 2.6. That said, the two scores are not equally well evidenced: DarkFlow has 101 ratings behind it against 1, so its average is the more settled of the two. Written reviews complicate that: 42% of DarkFlow's written reviews are positive against 0% of Rural Roads's, so the app with the better star average is not the one people write more warmly about.

DarkFlow ships an update every 2 months, Rural Roads every 3 weeks. The most recent releases landed on October 17, 2026 and October 15, 2026 respectively.
