# BrainPOP vs Student Check In

The clearest difference is in-app purchases: Student Check In at none against BrainPOP's 5. BrainPOP's advantage is ratings volume (34K vs 4) and rating (4.7 vs 4.5). On price, review sentiment, ads and iOS requirement there is nothing between them.

Both are free to download. BrainPOP sells 5 in-app purchases, starting at $3.99 per month. Student Check In asks for nothing beyond the download.

BrainPOP holds the better App Store score, 4.7 against 4.5. That said, the two scores are not equally well evidenced: BrainPOP has 34K ratings behind it against 4, so its average is the more settled of the two. Written reviews complicate that: 93% of BrainPOP's written reviews are positive against 100% of Student Check In's, so the app with the better star average is not the one people write more warmly about.

BrainPOP ships an update every 2 months, Student Check In every 6 months. The most recent releases landed on October 25, 2026 and October 14, 2026 respectively.
