# BrainPOP vs Twinkl

The clearest difference is in-app purchases: Twinkl at none against BrainPOP's 5. Twinkl also leads on rating (4.9 vs 4.7) and update cadence (monthly vs every 2 months). BrainPOP's advantage is review sentiment (93% vs 62%) and ratings volume (34K vs 2.5K). On price, ads, monetization model and device support there is nothing between them.

Both are free to download. BrainPOP sells 5 in-app purchases, starting at $3.99 per month. Twinkl asks for nothing beyond the download.

Twinkl holds the better App Store score, 4.9 against 4.7. That said, the two scores are not equally well evidenced: BrainPOP has 34K ratings behind it against 2.5K, so its average is the more settled of the two. Written reviews complicate that: 93% of BrainPOP's written reviews are positive against 62% of Twinkl's, so the app with the better star average is not the one people write more warmly about.

BrainPOP ships an update every 2 months, Twinkl monthly. The most recent releases landed on October 17, 2026 and October 16, 2026 respectively.
