# Dhol vs Dhol Radio

The clearest difference is in-app purchases: Dhol Radio at none against Dhol's 6. Dhol Radio also leads on rating (5.0 vs 4.6). Dhol's advantage is ratings volume (155 vs 8) and update cadence (every 7 months vs every 20 months). On price, review sentiment, ads and device support there is nothing between them.

Both are free to download. Dhol sells 6 one-off in-app purchases. Dhol Radio asks for nothing beyond the download.

Dhol Radio holds the better App Store score, 5.0 against 4.6. That said, the two scores are not equally well evidenced: Dhol has 155 ratings behind it against 8, so its average is the more settled of the two. Written reviews complicate that: 91% of Dhol's written reviews are positive against 86% of Dhol Radio's, so the app with the better star average is not the one people write more warmly about.

Dhol ships an update every 7 months, Dhol Radio every 20 months. The most recent releases landed on October 23, 2026 and October 5, 2026 respectively.
