# Reading Machine vs Todo Math

The clearest difference is rating: Todo Math at 4.7 against Reading Machine's 3.8. Todo Math also leads on update cadence (every 3 weeks vs every 14 months) and ratings volume (1.1K vs 12). Reading Machine's advantage is in-app purchases (none vs 10) and iOS requirement (8.0 vs 11.0). On price, review sentiment, ads and device support there is nothing between them.

Both are free to download. Todo Math sells 6 one-off in-app purchases. Reading Machine asks for nothing beyond the download.

Todo Math holds the better App Store score, 4.7 against 3.8. That said, the two scores are not equally well evidenced: Todo Math has 1.1K ratings behind it against 12, so its average is the more settled of the two. Written reviews complicate that: 75% of Reading Machine's written reviews are positive against 74% of Todo Math's, so the app with the better star average is not the one people write more warmly about.

Reading Machine ships an update every 14 months, Todo Math every 3 weeks. The most recent releases landed on September 16, 2026 and October 13, 2026 respectively.
