# TIME Magazine vs LA Times

The clearest difference is ads: TIME Magazine at none against LA Times's shown. TIME Magazine also leads on review sentiment (38% vs 29%). LA Times's advantage is update cadence (every 3 weeks vs every 3 months) and ratings volume (20K vs 2.6K). On price, rating, in-app purchases and monetization model there is nothing between them.

Both are free to download. TIME Magazine sells 10 in-app purchases, starting at $2.99 per month and LA Times sells 3 in-app purchases, starting at $4.99 per month. Whichever you choose, the download price is not the number that matters.

On the App Store both sit at effectively the same score — 4.5 for TIME Magazine against 4.6 for LA Times. That said, the two scores are not equally well evidenced: LA Times has 20K ratings behind it against 2.6K, so its average is the more settled of the two. Written reviews are what separate them: 38% of TIME Magazine's written reviews are positive against 29% of LA Times's.

TIME Magazine ships an update every 3 months, LA Times every 3 weeks. The most recent releases landed on November 1, 2026 and November 5, 2026 respectively.
