The clearest difference is in-app purchases: 凤凰视频HD at none against 澎湃新闻HD's 10. HD also leads on review sentiment (50% vs 29%) and ratings volume (732 vs 74). HD's advantage is rating (4.6 vs 4.4). On price and iOS requirement there is nothing between them.

Both are free to download. 澎湃新闻HD sells 10 one-off in-app purchases. HD asks for nothing beyond the download.

HD holds the better App Store score, 4.6 against 4.4. That said, the two scores are not equally well evidenced: 凤凰视频HD has 732 ratings behind it against 74, so its average is the more settled of the two. Written reviews complicate that: 50% of 凤凰视频HD's written reviews are positive against 29% of 澎湃新闻HD's, so the app with the better star average is not the one people write more warmly about.
