# mydlink Lite vs VTech Companion Devices

The clearest difference is rating: mydlink Lite at 4.1 against VTech Companion Devices's 2.3. mydlink Lite also leads on update cadence (every 2 months vs every 41 months) and ratings volume (3.2K vs 9). VTech Companion Devices's advantage is monetization model (free vs free with in-app purchases) and iOS requirement (13.0 vs 15.6). On price, review sentiment, ads and in-app purchases there is nothing between them.

Both are free to download. Neither carries in-app purchases, so what you see is what you pay.

mydlink Lite holds the better App Store score, 4.1 against 2.3. That said, the two scores are not equally well evidenced: mydlink Lite has 3.2K ratings behind it against 9, so its average is the more settled of the two. Written reviews complicate that: 45% of mydlink Lite's written reviews are positive against 50% of VTech Companion Devices's, so the app with the better star average is not the one people write more warmly about.

mydlink Lite ships an update every 2 months, VTech Companion Devices every 41 months. Both last shipped on November 3, 2026.
