# Folder Lock vs Vault

The clearest difference is ads: Vault at none against Folder Lock's shown. Folder Lock's advantage is update cadence (every 2 months vs every 11 months) and ratings volume (1.8K vs 4). On price, rating, review sentiment and in-app purchases there is nothing between them.

Both are free to download. Folder Lock sells 3 in-app purchases, starting at $0.99 per 7 days and Vault sells 3 one-off in-app purchases. Whichever you choose, the download price is not the number that matters.

Folder Lock holds the better App Store score, 4.2 against 4.0. That said, the two scores are not equally well evidenced: Folder Lock has 1.8K ratings behind it against 4, so its average is the more settled of the two. Written reviews complicate that: 32% of Folder Lock's written reviews are positive against 40% of Vault's, so the app with the better star average is not the one people write more warmly about.

Folder Lock ships an update every 2 months, Vault every 11 months. The most recent releases landed on October 23, 2026 and September 27, 2026 respectively.
