# Folder Lock vs AppLock

The clearest difference is review sentiment: AppLock at 69% against Folder Lock's 32%. AppLock also leads on in-app purchases (none vs 3) and update cadence (every 3 days vs every 2 months). Folder Lock's advantage is rating (4.2 vs 3.8) and ratings volume (1.8K vs 17). On price, ads, device support and iOS requirement there is nothing between them.

Both are free to download. Folder Lock sells 3 in-app purchases, starting at $0.99 per 7 days. AppLock asks for nothing beyond the download.

Folder Lock holds the better App Store score, 4.2 against 3.8. That said, the two scores are not equally well evidenced: Folder Lock has 1.8K ratings behind it against 17, so its average is the more settled of the two. Written reviews complicate that: 32% of Folder Lock's written reviews are positive against 69% of AppLock's, so the app with the better star average is not the one people write more warmly about.

Folder Lock ships an update every 2 months, AppLock every 3 days. The most recent releases landed on October 12, 2026 and September 17, 2026 respectively.
