# LA Times vs OCRegister

The clearest difference is ratings volume: LA Times at 20K against OCRegister's 1.2K. LA Times also leads on chart position (#16 vs #174) and review sentiment (29% vs 20%). On price, rating, update cadence and ads there is nothing between them.

Both are free to download. LA Times sells 3 in-app purchases, starting at $4.99 per month and OCRegister sells 2 in-app purchases, starting at $14.99 per month. Whichever you choose, the download price is not the number that matters.

On the App Store both sit at effectively the same score — 4.6 for LA Times against 4.6 for OCRegister. That said, the two scores are not equally well evidenced: LA Times has 20K ratings behind it against 1.2K, so its average is the more settled of the two. Written reviews are what separate them: 29% of LA Times's written reviews are positive against 20% of OCRegister's.

LA Times ships an update every 3 weeks, OCRegister monthly. The most recent releases landed on November 4, 2026 and November 1, 2026 respectively.
