# SYFY vs SpectrumU

SYFY and SpectrumU both sit at 4.6 stars, but that hides the real split: 34% of SYFY's written reviews are positive against 10% of SpectrumU's. SYFY also leads on ratings volume (17K vs 317). SpectrumU's advantage is update cadence (every 2 weeks vs every 5 weeks). On price, rating, ads and in-app purchases there is nothing between them.

Both are free to download. Neither carries in-app purchases, so what you see is what you pay.

SYFY holds the better App Store score, 4.6 against 4.4. That said, the two scores are not equally well evidenced: SYFY has 17K ratings behind it against 317, so its average is the more settled of the two. Written reviews point the same way: 34% of SYFY's written reviews are positive against 10% of SpectrumU's.

SYFY ships an update every 5 weeks, SpectrumU every 2 weeks. The most recent releases landed on October 21, 2026 and October 18, 2026 respectively.
