# Light vs FlashLight

The clearest difference is rating: FlashLight at 4.3 against Light's 3.3. FlashLight also leads on update cadence (monthly vs every 5 months) and device support (4 vs 2). Light's advantage is ads (none vs shown) and ratings volume (3.4K vs 358). On price, in-app purchases and monetization model there is nothing between them.

Both are free to download. Light sells 3 one-off in-app purchases and FlashLight sells 1 one-off in-app purchase. Whichever you choose, the download price is not the number that matters.

FlashLight holds the better App Store score, 4.3 against 3.3. That said, the two scores are not equally well evidenced: Light has 3.4K ratings behind it against 358, so its average is the more settled of the two. Written reviews complicate that: 93% of Light's written reviews are positive against 82% of FlashLight's, so the app with the better star average is not the one people write more warmly about.

Light ships an update every 5 months, FlashLight monthly. The most recent releases landed on October 12, 2026 and October 11, 2026 respectively.
