# Light vs Flashlight ×

The clearest difference is rating: Flashlight × at 4.6 against Light's 3.3. Flashlight × also leads on ratings volume (31K vs 3.4K). Light's advantage is ads (none vs shown) and review sentiment (93% vs 68%). On price, update cadence, in-app purchases and monetization model there is nothing between them.

Both are free to download. Light sells 3 one-off in-app purchases and Flashlight × sells 3 one-off in-app purchases. Whichever you choose, the download price is not the number that matters.

Flashlight × holds the better App Store score, 4.6 against 3.3. That said, the two scores are not equally well evidenced: Flashlight × has 31K ratings behind it against 3.4K, so its average is the more settled of the two. Written reviews complicate that: 93% of Light's written reviews are positive against 68% of Flashlight ×'s, so the app with the better star average is not the one people write more warmly about.

Light ships an update every 5 months, Flashlight × every 4 months. The most recent releases landed on October 12, 2026 and October 13, 2026 respectively.
