# Busuu vs Bunpo

The clearest difference is ads: Bunpo at none against Busuu's shown. Bunpo also leads on rating (4.9 vs 4.7) and iOS requirement (16.0 vs 18.0). Busuu's advantage is review sentiment (86% vs 72%) and chart position (#67 vs unranked). On price, update cadence, in-app purchases and monetization model there is nothing between them.

Both are free to download. Busuu sells 9 in-app purchases, starting at $6.99 per month and Bunpo sells 7 in-app purchases, starting at $9.99 per month. Whichever you choose, the download price is not the number that matters.

Bunpo holds the better App Store score, 4.9 against 4.7. That said, the two scores are not equally well evidenced: Busuu has 101K ratings behind it against 18K, so its average is the more settled of the two. Written reviews complicate that: 86% of Busuu's written reviews are positive against 72% of Bunpo's, so the app with the better star average is not the one people write more warmly about.

Busuu ships an update weekly, Bunpo every 9 days. Both last shipped on October 18, 2026.
