# Max Speed vs Speedometer ⊲

The clearest difference is rating: Speedometer ⊲ at 4.5 against Max Speed's 3.4. Speedometer ⊲ also leads on ratings volume (4.2K vs 8) and monetization model (ad-supported vs free with in-app purchases). On price, review sentiment, update cadence and ads there is nothing between them.

Both are free to download. Neither carries in-app purchases, so what you see is what you pay.

Speedometer ⊲ holds the better App Store score, 4.5 against 3.4. That said, the two scores are not equally well evidenced: Speedometer ⊲ has 4.2K ratings behind it against 8, so its average is the more settled of the two. Written reviews complicate that: 65% of Max Speed's written reviews are positive against 62% of Speedometer ⊲'s, so the app with the better star average is not the one people write more warmly about.

Max Speed ships an update every 5 months, Speedometer ⊲ every 3 months. The most recent releases landed on September 28, 2026 and October 13, 2026 respectively.
