# Device Locator vs IR

The clearest difference is price: IR at Free against Device Locator's $3.99. IR also leads on in-app purchases (none vs 4) and iOS requirement (11 vs 13.0). Device Locator's advantage is rating (2.9 vs 1.0) and update cadence (every 3 weeks vs every 3 months). On ads and device support there is nothing between them.

IR is free to download; Device Locator costs $3.99 up front. Device Locator sells 4 one-off in-app purchases. IR asks for nothing beyond the download.

Device Locator holds the better App Store score, 2.9 against 1.0. That said, the two scores are not equally well evidenced: Device Locator has 19 ratings behind it against 2, so its average is the more settled of the two.

Device Locator ships an update every 3 weeks, IR every 3 months. The most recent releases landed on October 24, 2026 and October 22, 2026 respectively.
