# Explorer vs Swipebrief

The clearest difference is rating: Swipebrief at 5.0 against Explorer's 3.8. Swipebrief also leads on update cadence (every 9 days vs every 2 months). Explorer's advantage is in-app purchases (none vs 4) and ratings volume (115 vs 4). On price, ads, device support and iOS requirement there is nothing between them.

Both are free to download. Swipebrief sells 4 in-app purchases, starting at $4.99 per month. Explorer asks for nothing beyond the download.

Swipebrief holds the better App Store score, 5.0 against 3.8. That said, the two scores are not equally well evidenced: Explorer has 115 ratings behind it against 4, so its average is the more settled of the two.

Explorer ships an update every 2 months, Swipebrief every 9 days. The most recent releases landed on October 23, 2026 and October 8, 2026 respectively.
