# American Airlines vs Amtrak

American Airlines and Amtrak both sit at 4.8 stars, but that hides the real split: 57% of American Airlines's written reviews are positive against 31% of Amtrak's. American Airlines also leads on update cadence (weekly vs monthly) and ratings volume (1.7M vs 223K). On price, rating, ads and in-app purchases there is nothing between them.

Both are free to download. Neither carries in-app purchases, so what you see is what you pay.

On the App Store both sit at effectively the same score — 4.8 for American Airlines against 4.7 for Amtrak. That said, the two scores are not equally well evidenced: American Airlines has 1.7M ratings behind it against 223K, so its average is the more settled of the two. Written reviews are what separate them: 57% of American Airlines's written reviews are positive against 31% of Amtrak's.

American Airlines ships an update weekly, Amtrak monthly. Both last shipped on November 1, 2026.
