# Castanet vs Canada Press

The clearest difference is review sentiment: Canada Press at 59% against Castanet's 19%. Canada Press also leads on ratings volume (55 vs 1) and iOS requirement (12.0 vs 15). Castanet's advantage is in-app purchases (none vs 4) and ads (none vs shown). On price and device support there is nothing between them.

Both are free to download. Canada Press sells 4 in-app purchases, starting at $0.99 per month. Castanet asks for nothing beyond the download.

Castanet holds the better App Store score, 5.0 against 4.6. That said, the two scores are not equally well evidenced: Canada Press has 55 ratings behind it against 1, so its average is the more settled of the two. Written reviews complicate that: 19% of Castanet's written reviews are positive against 59% of Canada Press's, so the app with the better star average is not the one people write more warmly about.

Castanet ships an update every 6 weeks, Canada Press every 12 months. The most recent releases landed on October 13, 2026 and October 15, 2026 respectively.
