# Files HD vs File Manager

The clearest difference is rating: Files HD at 4.7 against File Manager's 4.1. Files HD also leads on ratings volume (403 vs 36). File Manager's advantage is update cadence (monthly vs every 3 months) and device support (3 vs 1). On price, review sentiment, ads and in-app purchases there is nothing between them.

Both are free to download. Files HD sells 4 in-app purchases, starting at $0.99 per month and File Manager sells 1 one-off in-app purchase. Whichever you choose, the download price is not the number that matters.

Files HD holds the better App Store score, 4.7 against 4.1. That said, the two scores are not equally well evidenced: Files HD has 403 ratings behind it against 36, so its average is the more settled of the two. Written reviews point the same way: 66% of Files HD's written reviews are positive against 60% of File Manager's.

Files HD ships an update every 3 months, File Manager monthly. The most recent releases landed on October 9, 2026 and October 8, 2026 respectively.
