# Chegg Study vs StudyPug

Chegg Study and StudyPug both sit at 4.7 stars, but that hides the real split: 59% of StudyPug's written reviews are positive against 20% of Chegg Study's. StudyPug also leads on update cadence (every 8 days vs every 3 weeks) and iOS requirement (15.1 vs 17.0). Chegg Study's advantage is monetization model (free with in-app purchases vs subscription) and ads (none vs shown). On price, rating, in-app purchases and device support there is nothing between them.

Both are free to download. Chegg Study sells 4 in-app purchases, starting at $15.99 per month and StudyPug sells 11 in-app purchases, starting at $4.99 per 7 days. Whichever you choose, the download price is not the number that matters.

On the App Store both sit at effectively the same score — 4.7 for Chegg Study against 4.7 for StudyPug. That said, the two scores are not equally well evidenced: Chegg Study has 205K ratings behind it against 2.1K, so its average is the more settled of the two. Written reviews are what separate them: 20% of Chegg Study's written reviews are positive against 59% of StudyPug's.

Chegg Study ships an update every 3 weeks, StudyPug every 8 days. Both last shipped on November 1, 2026.
