# Backgrounds! vs Cute Wallpapers Background

The clearest difference is ads: Backgrounds! at none against Cute Wallpapers Background's shown. Backgrounds! also leads on rating (4.0 vs 3.7) and iOS requirement (4.3 vs 15.0). Cute Wallpapers Background's advantage is update cadence (every 2 months vs every 6 months) and review sentiment (66% vs 54%). On price, in-app purchases and monetization model there is nothing between them.

Both are free to download. Backgrounds! sells 1 one-off in-app purchase and Cute Wallpapers Background sells 1 one-off in-app purchase. Whichever you choose, the download price is not the number that matters.

Backgrounds! holds the better App Store score, 4.0 against 3.7. That said, the two scores are not equally well evidenced: Cute Wallpapers Background has 81 ratings behind it against 14, so its average is the more settled of the two. Written reviews complicate that: 54% of Backgrounds!'s written reviews are positive against 66% of Cute Wallpapers Background's, so the app with the better star average is not the one people write more warmly about.

Backgrounds! ships an update every 6 months, Cute Wallpapers Background every 2 months. Both last shipped on October 9, 2026.
