# System Activity Monitors vs Time Tracker

The clearest difference is monetization model: System Activity Monitors at free with in-app purchases against Time Tracker's subscription. System Activity Monitors also leads on review sentiment (76% vs 64%) and ratings volume (774 vs 113). Time Tracker's advantage is update cadence (weekly vs every 3 months) and rating (4.5 vs 4.2). On price, ads, in-app purchases and device support there is nothing between them.

Both are free to download. System Activity Monitors sells 4 in-app purchases, starting at $3.99 per 7 days and Time Tracker sells 6 in-app purchases, starting at $6.99 per month. Whichever you choose, the download price is not the number that matters.

Time Tracker holds the better App Store score, 4.5 against 4.2. That said, the two scores are not equally well evidenced: System Activity Monitors has 774 ratings behind it against 113, so its average is the more settled of the two. Written reviews complicate that: 76% of System Activity Monitors's written reviews are positive against 64% of Time Tracker's, so the app with the better star average is not the one people write more warmly about.

System Activity Monitors ships an update every 3 months, Time Tracker weekly. The most recent releases landed on October 13, 2026 and October 15, 2026 respectively.
