# KZ106 vs 97.1 The River

The clearest difference is rating: KZ106 at 5.0 against 97.1 The River's 4.5. 97.1 The River's advantage is ratings volume (144 vs 6) and update cadence (every 2 months vs every 5 months). On price, ads, in-app purchases and monetization model there is nothing between them.

Both are free to download. Neither carries in-app purchases, so what you see is what you pay.

KZ106 holds the better App Store score, 5.0 against 4.5. That said, the two scores are not equally well evidenced: 97.1 The River has 144 ratings behind it against 6, so its average is the more settled of the two. Written reviews complicate that: 50% of KZ106's written reviews are positive against 65% of 97.1 The River's, so the app with the better star average is not the one people write more warmly about.

KZ106 ships an update every 5 months, 97.1 The River every 2 months. The most recent releases landed on November 1, 2026 and November 3, 2026 respectively.
