# Podcast Player vs Crew

The clearest difference is ads: Crew at none against Podcast Player's shown. Crew also leads on update cadence (every 10 days vs monthly). Podcast Player's advantage is rating (4.7 vs 4.4) and ratings volume (2.2K vs 64). On price, in-app purchases, monetization model and device support there is nothing between them.

Both are free to download. Podcast Player sells 4 in-app purchases, starting at $2.99 per year and Crew sells 7 in-app purchases, starting at $1.99 per month. Whichever you choose, the download price is not the number that matters.

Podcast Player holds the better App Store score, 4.7 against 4.4. That said, the two scores are not equally well evidenced: Podcast Player has 2.2K ratings behind it against 64, so its average is the more settled of the two. Written reviews point the same way: 78% of Podcast Player's written reviews are positive against 67% of Crew's.

Podcast Player ships an update monthly, Crew every 10 days. The most recent releases landed on October 16, 2026 and October 2, 2026 respectively.
