# Avenza Maps vs Offline Map Navigation

The clearest difference is review sentiment: Avenza Maps at 52% against Offline Map Navigation's 14%. Avenza Maps also leads on rating (4.8 vs 4.3) and ads (none vs shown). Offline Map Navigation's advantage is update cadence (fortnightly vs every 2 months) and iOS requirement (13.0 vs 18.0). On price, in-app purchases, monetization model and device support there is nothing between them.

Both are free to download. Avenza Maps sells 13 in-app purchases, starting at $32.99 per year and Offline Map Navigation sells 6 in-app purchases, starting at $4.99 per month. Whichever you choose, the download price is not the number that matters.

Avenza Maps holds the better App Store score, 4.8 against 4.3. That said, the two scores are not equally well evidenced: Avenza Maps has 128K ratings behind it against 314, so its average is the more settled of the two. Written reviews point the same way: 52% of Avenza Maps's written reviews are positive against 14% of Offline Map Navigation's.

Avenza Maps ships an update every 2 months, Offline Map Navigation fortnightly. The most recent releases landed on October 20, 2026 and October 18, 2026 respectively.
