# CamScanner vs CityTroops

The clearest difference is in-app purchases: CityTroops at none against CamScanner's 14. CityTroops also leads on ads (none vs shown). CamScanner's advantage is ratings volume (2M vs 1) and update cadence (weekly vs every 3 weeks). On price, rating, device support and iOS requirement there is nothing between them.

Both are free to download. CamScanner sells 13 in-app purchases, starting at $4.99 per month. CityTroops asks for nothing beyond the download.

CityTroops holds the better App Store score, 5.0 against 4.8. That said, the two scores are not equally well evidenced: CamScanner has 2M ratings behind it against 1, so its average is the more settled of the two.

CamScanner ships an update weekly, CityTroops every 3 weeks. The most recent releases landed on October 29, 2026 and October 22, 2026 respectively.
