# CamScanner vs Read+ PDF Reader

The clearest difference is rating: CamScanner at 4.8 against Read+ PDF Reader's 4.4. CamScanner also leads on ratings volume (1.9M vs 7) and chart position (#7 vs unranked). Read+ PDF Reader's advantage is update cadence (every 3 days vs weekly) and iOS requirement (13.0 vs 15.0). On price, review sentiment, ads and in-app purchases there is nothing between them.

Both are free to download. CamScanner sells 13 in-app purchases, starting at $4.99 per month and Read+ PDF Reader sells 2 in-app purchases, starting at $3.49 per month. Whichever you choose, the download price is not the number that matters.

CamScanner holds the better App Store score, 4.8 against 4.4. That said, the two scores are not equally well evidenced: CamScanner has 1.9M ratings behind it against 7, so its average is the more settled of the two. Written reviews complicate that: 61% of CamScanner's written reviews are positive against 67% of Read+ PDF Reader's, so the app with the better star average is not the one people write more warmly about.

CamScanner ships an update weekly, Read+ PDF Reader every 3 days. The most recent releases landed on October 3, 2026 and October 1, 2026 respectively.
