# CamScanner vs PDF Splitter + PDF Merge

The clearest difference is ads: PDF Splitter + PDF Merge at none against CamScanner's shown. PDF Splitter + PDF Merge also leads on review sentiment (88% vs 60%) and device support (4 vs 2). CamScanner's advantage is update cadence (weekly vs every 3 months) and ratings volume (2M vs 140). On price, in-app purchases and monetization model there is nothing between them.

Both are free to download. CamScanner sells 10 in-app purchases, starting at $4.99 per month and PDF Splitter + PDF Merge sells 2 one-off in-app purchases. Whichever you choose, the download price is not the number that matters.

CamScanner holds the better App Store score, 4.8 against 4.5. That said, the two scores are not equally well evidenced: CamScanner has 2M ratings behind it against 140, so its average is the more settled of the two. Written reviews complicate that: 60% of CamScanner's written reviews are positive against 88% of PDF Splitter + PDF Merge's, so the app with the better star average is not the one people write more warmly about.

CamScanner ships an update weekly, PDF Splitter + PDF Merge every 3 months. The most recent releases landed on November 4, 2026 and November 1, 2026 respectively.
