# CamScanner vs MRZ

The clearest difference is ads: MRZ at none against CamScanner's shown. MRZ also leads on update cadence (every 2 days vs weekly). CamScanner's advantage is chart position (#7 vs unranked) and iOS requirement (15.0 vs 17.6). On price, in-app purchases and device support there is nothing between them.

Both are free to download. CamScanner sells 13 in-app purchases, starting at $4.99 per month and MRZ sells 4 in-app purchases, starting at $9.99 per month. Whichever you choose, the download price is not the number that matters.

CamScanner ships an update weekly, MRZ every 2 days. The most recent releases landed on October 21, 2026 and October 20, 2026 respectively.
