# NewsMemory vs Times

The clearest difference is ratings volume: NewsMemory at 662 against Times's 34. Times's advantage is monetization model (ad-supported vs free with in-app purchases) and iOS requirement (12.0 vs 15.1). On price, rating, review sentiment and update cadence there is nothing between them.

Both are free to download. Neither carries in-app purchases, so what you see is what you pay.

Times holds the better App Store score, 4.7 against 4.5. That said, the two scores are not equally well evidenced: NewsMemory has 662 ratings behind it against 34, so its average is the more settled of the two. Written reviews split almost evenly too, at 91% and 92% positive.

NewsMemory ships an update every 8 months, Times every 6 months. The most recent releases landed on October 26, 2026 and October 24, 2026 respectively.
