# JouleBug vs greenApes

The clearest difference is update cadence: greenApes at fortnightly against JouleBug's every 3 months. JouleBug's advantage is ratings volume (41 vs 2) and monetization model (free vs ad-supported). On price, rating, review sentiment and ads there is nothing between them.

Both are free to download. Neither carries in-app purchases, so what you see is what you pay.

On the App Store both sit at effectively the same score — 4.4 for JouleBug against 4.5 for greenApes. That said, the two scores are not equally well evidenced: JouleBug has 41 ratings behind it against 2, so its average is the more settled of the two. Written reviews are what separate them: 70% of JouleBug's written reviews are positive against 77% of greenApes's.

JouleBug ships an update every 3 months, greenApes fortnightly. The most recent releases landed on October 21, 2026 and October 22, 2026 respectively.
