# Pilot Test vs Aviation Exam

The clearest difference is rating: Aviation Exam at 4.8 against Pilot Test's 4.1. Aviation Exam also leads on update cadence (every 2 months vs every 51 months) and review sentiment (79% vs 50%). On price, ads, in-app purchases and monetization model there is nothing between them.

Both are free to download. Pilot Test sells 5 in-app purchases, starting at $3.99 per month and Aviation Exam sells 30 one-off in-app purchases. Whichever you choose, the download price is not the number that matters.

Aviation Exam holds the better App Store score, 4.8 against 4.1. That said, the two scores are not equally well evidenced: Aviation Exam has 495 ratings behind it against 11, so its average is the more settled of the two. Pilot Test ships an update every 51 months, Aviation Exam every 2 months. The most recent releases landed on October 15, 2026 and October 19, 2026 respectively.
