# Vanguardia vs Excélsior

The clearest difference is rating: Vanguardia at 4.1 against Excélsior's 1.9. Vanguardia also leads on ads (none vs shown) and monetization model (free vs ad-supported). Excélsior's advantage is iOS requirement (13.0 vs 15.1). On price, review sentiment, update cadence and in-app purchases there is nothing between them.

Both are free to download. Neither carries in-app purchases, so what you see is what you pay.

Vanguardia holds the better App Store score, 4.1 against 1.9. That said, the two scores are not equally well evidenced: Vanguardia has 51 ratings behind it against 7, so its average is the more settled of the two. Written reviews complicate that: 58% of Vanguardia's written reviews are positive against 64% of Excélsior's, so the app with the better star average is not the one people write more warmly about.

Both ship on a similar rhythm, roughly every 2 months. The most recent releases landed on October 5, 2026 and October 21, 2026 respectively.
