# True vs DVR

The clearest difference is rating: True at 4.7 against DVR's 2.6. True also leads on update cadence (every 11 days vs every 3 months) and ratings volume (1.3K vs 5). DVR's advantage is iOS requirement (12.0 vs 14). On price, ads, in-app purchases and monetization model there is nothing between them.

Both are free to download. Neither carries in-app purchases, so what you see is what you pay.

True holds the better App Store score, 4.7 against 2.6. That said, the two scores are not equally well evidenced: True has 1.3K ratings behind it against 5, so its average is the more settled of the two. Written reviews point the same way: 18% of True's written reviews are positive against 4% of DVR's.

True ships an update every 11 days, DVR every 3 months. The most recent releases landed on October 14, 2026 and October 13, 2026 respectively.
