# cleveland.com vs Athens Messenger eEdition

The clearest difference is review sentiment: Athens Messenger eEdition at 100% against cleveland.com's 30%. Athens Messenger eEdition also leads on in-app purchases (none vs 10) and iOS requirement (15.1 vs 17.0). cleveland.com's advantage is rating (4.5 vs 4.0) and update cadence (every 3 weeks vs every 4 months). On price, ads and device support there is nothing between them.

Both are free to download. cleveland.com sells 9 in-app purchases, starting at $7.99 per month. Athens Messenger eEdition asks for nothing beyond the download.

cleveland.com holds the better App Store score, 4.5 against 4.0. That said, the two scores are not equally well evidenced: cleveland.com has 12K ratings behind it against 10, so its average is the more settled of the two. Written reviews complicate that: 30% of cleveland.com's written reviews are positive against 100% of Athens Messenger eEdition's, so the app with the better star average is not the one people write more warmly about.

cleveland.com ships an update every 3 weeks, Athens Messenger eEdition every 4 months. The most recent releases landed on November 5, 2026 and November 3, 2026 respectively.
