# Oregonlive.com vs FlashAlert Messenger

The clearest difference is rating: Oregonlive.com at 4.3 against FlashAlert Messenger's 3.2. Oregonlive.com also leads on ratings volume (10K vs 13) and chart position (#63 vs unranked). FlashAlert Messenger's advantage is in-app purchases (none vs 18) and ads (none vs shown). On price, device support and iOS requirement there is nothing between them.

Both are free to download. Oregonlive.com sells 16 in-app purchases, starting at $7.99 per month. FlashAlert Messenger asks for nothing beyond the download.

Oregonlive.com holds the better App Store score, 4.3 against 3.2. That said, the two scores are not equally well evidenced: Oregonlive.com has 10K ratings behind it against 13, so its average is the more settled of the two. Written reviews complicate that: 16% of Oregonlive.com's written reviews are positive against 30% of FlashAlert Messenger's, so the app with the better star average is not the one people write more warmly about.

Oregonlive.com ships an update every 3 weeks, FlashAlert Messenger every 6 weeks. The most recent releases landed on October 15, 2026 and October 6, 2026 respectively.
