# Il Messaggero vs TG5

The clearest difference is in-app purchases: TG5 at none against Il Messaggero's 14. TG5 also leads on ratings volume (34 vs 1) and update cadence (every 2 months vs every 6 months). Il Messaggero's advantage is ads (none vs shown) and rating (3.0 vs 2.6). On price, review sentiment and device support there is nothing between them.

Both are free to download. Il Messaggero sells 12 in-app purchases, starting at $3.99 per 7 days. TG5 asks for nothing beyond the download.

Il Messaggero holds the better App Store score, 3.0 against 2.6. That said, the two scores are not equally well evidenced: TG5 has 34 ratings behind it against 1, so its average is the more settled of the two. Written reviews complicate that: 29% of Il Messaggero's written reviews are positive against 30% of TG5's, so the app with the better star average is not the one people write more warmly about.

Il Messaggero ships an update every 6 months, TG5 every 2 months. The most recent releases landed on October 11, 2026 and October 12, 2026 respectively.
