# iKitab vs ektab

The clearest difference is review sentiment: ektab at 60% against iKitab's 9%. ektab also leads on monetization model (free vs free with in-app purchases). iKitab's advantage is update cadence (fortnightly vs every 5 months). On price, ads, in-app purchases and device support there is nothing between them.

Both are free to download. iKitab sells 18 in-app purchases, starting at $4.99 per month and ektab sells 10 one-off in-app purchases. Whichever you choose, the download price is not the number that matters.

iKitab ships an update fortnightly, ektab every 5 months. The most recent releases landed on October 10, 2026 and September 30, 2026 respectively.
