# News Point vs Canada Press

The clearest difference is rating: Canada Press at 4.6 against News Point's 3.9. Canada Press also leads on ratings volume (55 vs 7) and iOS requirement (12.0 vs 16.0). News Point's advantage is in-app purchases (none vs 4) and update cadence (every 4 months vs every 12 months). On price, review sentiment, ads and device support there is nothing between them.

Both are free to download. Canada Press sells 4 in-app purchases, starting at $0.99 per month. News Point asks for nothing beyond the download.

Canada Press holds the better App Store score, 4.6 against 3.9. That said, the two scores are not equally well evidenced: Canada Press has 55 ratings behind it against 7, so its average is the more settled of the two. Written reviews complicate that: 67% of News Point's written reviews are positive against 59% of Canada Press's, so the app with the better star average is not the one people write more warmly about.

News Point ships an update every 4 months, Canada Press every 12 months. The most recent releases landed on October 23, 2026 and November 1, 2026 respectively.
