# FLYING Magazine vs SPH Mag

The clearest difference is rating: SPH Mag at 5.0 against FLYING Magazine's 4.4. SPH Mag also leads on update cadence (every 3 weeks vs every 3 months) and iOS requirement (9.0 vs 13.0). FLYING Magazine's advantage is ratings volume (371 vs 1) and review sentiment (17% vs 0%). On price, ads, in-app purchases and monetization model there is nothing between them.

Both are free to download. FLYING Magazine sells 12 in-app purchases, starting at $50.00 per year and SPH Mag sells 10 in-app purchases, starting at $8.99 per year. Whichever you choose, the download price is not the number that matters.

SPH Mag holds the better App Store score, 5.0 against 4.4. That said, the two scores are not equally well evidenced: FLYING Magazine has 371 ratings behind it against 1, so its average is the more settled of the two. Written reviews complicate that: 17% of FLYING Magazine's written reviews are positive against 0% of SPH Mag's, so the app with the better star average is not the one people write more warmly about.

FLYING Magazine ships an update every 3 months, SPH Mag every 3 weeks. The most recent releases landed on October 26, 2026 and October 18, 2026 respectively.
