# Austrian vs Star Alliance

The clearest difference is ads: Austrian at none against Star Alliance's shown. Austrian also leads on ratings volume (5.1K vs 82) and update cadence (every 2 weeks vs every 2 months). On price, rating, in-app purchases and device support there is nothing between them.

Both are free to download. Neither carries in-app purchases, so what you see is what you pay.

On the App Store both sit at effectively the same score — 4.9 for Austrian against 4.8 for Star Alliance. That said, the two scores are not equally well evidenced: Austrian has 5.1K ratings behind it against 82, so its average is the more settled of the two. Written reviews are what separate them: 31% of Austrian's written reviews are positive against 13% of Star Alliance's.

Austrian ships an update every 2 weeks, Star Alliance every 2 months. The most recent releases landed on October 24, 2026 and October 22, 2026 respectively.
